Tabatabaee Claims about Taheri’s Case
Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabaee, the lawyer assigned by the government to represent Mohammad Ali Taheri, claims that his client’s case has been returned to the court for further investigations.
Alizadeh Tabatabaee told a reporter at Tasnim, “Taheri’s accusation is limited to interfering with medical practices, and more than anything else this is his accusation, and he has been enduring this sentence.” Alizadeh in another part of the interview that was published in Tasnim says, “Taheri’s case has been transferred from branch 26 to the second branch of investigations.”
Last year around this time, Alizadeh Tabatabaee claimed that on February 25, 2015 a court hearing regarding Mohammad Ali Taheri’s case had taken place, a hearing that was later proven to have never taken place.
Last month while Tabatabaee was running as a candidate for a seat at the congress, and in order to make his political efforts more colorful Alizadeh Tabatabaee announced that Mr. Taheri will be released on February 7th, 2016. But, after his credentials were rejected by the Guardian Council, in his first official news conference he referred to Mohammad Ali Taheri’s case, and said that February seventh marks the end of his client’s 5th year in prison, but the investigative branch of the judiciary has not responded to his request for conversion of warrants and the issuance of securities.
Based on the promises made by Alizadeh Tabatabaee and Saeed Khallili on February seventh of this year a number of Mr. Taheri’s students gathered in front of Evin Prison to meet their Master, but the meeting did not take place and Mr. Taheri was not seen after a year-long effort by his students.
There are also a large number of Mr. Taheri’s students that believe that their master has died over a year ago under torture while in hunger strike. They also believe that the Iranian government uses its own attorneys and puts pressure on family members of Mr. Taheri to conceal his death. In this way, they claim, the government is buying time to Islamize his teachings, which go beyond religion and nationality, and to publish fabricated announcements and untrue confessions contributed to him to distort the truths about his Interuniversal teachings.
According to Shahnaz Niroomanesh, the director of International Taheri Campaign, in January 2015 Mr. Taheri lost his life while being tortured to confess that his teachings were Satanic. In January 2016 a conference was held at the University of Southern California Los Angeles to commemorate the anniversary of his passing. There were also many gatherings for the same purpose in cities around the world, including Los Angeles, London, Brussels, Chicago, Sydney, Stockholm, Istanbul, Essen, Washington DC, Vancouver, Berlin, Trondheim, Malmo, and Oslo.
Mohammad Ali Taheri’s case has a high priority for the heads of government in Iran and is considered to be one of the most important cases in the history of Islamic Republic of Iran.
